kidneys

Around the 18th of August, I got done with work and my cell phone instantly started ringing. I looked at it and it was Josh. Here's how our conversation went...

Me: "Hello!"
Josh: "I'm really sick...... I can't make it home...... I don't even think I can make it to my parents."
Me: "What? What kind of sick are you?"
Josh: "I can't talk, I'm throwing up."
Me: "Call me back when you can!"
dial tone.

Obviously, I panicked. Who wouldn't? My husband was in pain and I couldn't do a thing! It was terrible! I drove home and then I got a call from Josh's Mom. She said she found him on the floor of the bathroom at their house, he was in a lot of pain,  and she was taking him to the Emergency Room. So, I packed a bag and headed up to the Heber Hospital. Apparently, Josh went to Park City to get some things from Home Depot then felt really bad so he left, went to the 7 Eleven and spent a lot of quality time getting to know the toilet in the bathroom there.. if you know what I mean. I got to the hospital and he was laying in a room hooked up to some pain meds.  The instant he saw me he said, "You're so pretty." haha He said variations of that about 7 or 8 times... haha it was cute. After a CT scan, we found out he had 2 kidney stones, one in each kidney, one big and one small.  The big one was 6.5mm and was too large to pass on its own so the Doctor there called a surgeon and we were scheduled to meet with him the next day.  After giving Josh some antibiotics through an IV, we left the hospital about 11:30pm and went back to his parent's house and spent the night. I had to call into work and take the morning off so I could take Josh to the hospital the next day to meet with the surgeon. He looked at everything, talked with Josh and they scheduled surgery for the next day.

On the way to surgery
He had laser lithotripsy the next evening and everything went well. I have to admit, I was a little scared for him and I probably worried a little bit too much about how he was doing every second during surgery. After what felt like FOREVER I heard coughing down the hall and I knew it was him and he was done with surgery. Is that weird that I know what his cough sounds like? haha I guess the nurse tried to give him a drink of cranberry juice afterwards and he choked real bad. He laid around and rested for a few days and then was back to normal. I'm so glad he's back to normal and I bet he is too! Cross your fingers he doesn't get anymore kidney stones!
