bear LAKE

For Memorial weekend, our friends Adam and Megan invited us go to go Bear Lake to Megan's family cabin along with our other friends Colby & Aubrie, Jon Matthew, Megan, and baby Sally. It was such a fun weekend! We shot guns, rode four-wheelers, hot tubbed, ate delicious food, laughed, played games and played with one of the cutest babes, Sally. Seriously, she's so cute and happy! We also got to try chocolate covered raspberries there. Oh man, they're delicious! They freeze the raspberries before they dip them in chocolate so when you bite into it after the raspberry has thawed, its a juicy delicious experience! haha It was fun to get away and spend time with our friends especially since Colby and Aubrie just moved to California :(  

 

The weather was a little crazy while we were there... it was sunny, then it was windy and cold, then it was raining, then it was sunny, and then it was SNOWING! Definitely a crazy weather weekend, but it was a blast anyway! 

Food Adventures

Picture this... 

Me (Karee), in the kitchen slaving away making yet another scrumptious dinner. Then comes Josh walking through the garage door stopping to pull off his sweaty smelly socks by the laundry room then sitting, exhausted on a stool at the island.

I grab a jalapeno and start cutting it up as Josh begins to speak.

Josh: "What are you making?"
Me: "Oh, just basil chicken in a coconut curry sauce." 
Josh: "Wow that sounds really good!"
Me: "I hope it tastes as good as it sounds! Go shower then we can eat."
Josh: "Ok, but make sure you don't touch your eye after cutting up that jalapeno, it'll burn!" 
Me: "Duh!"

We eat dinner and it is definitely delicious!

30 minutes after dinner and doing the dishes, my contact starts to bug me. I reach up and rub my eye... instant burn! I'm freaking out and my eye is watering and I can't keep it open long enough to get out my contact. Pure pain and disaster I tell you! But, luckily Josh got my contact out of my eye after only four tries and he held my hair back and shoved gently pushed my head under a stream of freeeezing cold water to stop the burning and eye watering and puffy redness.

 

I know, its quite the embarrassing photo, but I hope it serves as a warning to all you other gourmet chefs out there. Jalapenos are dangerous!


And now for something not so spicy, but rather kind of sweet.

Picture this...
Some random night, Josh watching Sons of Guns or Pawn Stars or A-Team series or Mission impossible series on netflix as I browse through pinterest for what else but delicious recipes.

Me: "WHOA! Look at how amazing this looks! I'm going to make it!"
Josh: "WHOA! You think it really tastes like watermelon!?"
Me: "Of course!"

Fast forward to a Saturday, I'm grocery shopping and I see a watermelon. Instantly I remember what I saw on pinterest and add it to the cart.

The next morning...

Josh: "What time is it?"
Me: "Seven thirty. Blah! Church isn't until 11!"
Josh: "Why did we wake up so early?! What should we do?"
Me: "Let's make that cake!"

So we did. And ladies and gentlemen, it was delicious! And it did indeed taste like a watermelon!

Farewells and Father's day

One of my best friends, Keisha, decided to go on a mission. She got called to the Iowa Des Moines mission and she gave her "farewell'' talk on Father's day. I have always looked up to her. She's one of the funniest, happiest, most outgoing girls I know and whenever we're together its always a blast! She is going to be such an amazing missionary and I'm excited to read her letters and see what happens in the next 18 months! 


I also got to see one of my other best friends who is going to have a little baby girl really soon! (although by looking at her you'd never guess).

We were also able to be home to celebrate Father's day with my Dad. We went and saw the house he's building now and it reminded me of all the hot, miserable wonderful summer days working for him. Since its a house by the river, it also reminded me of the summer I spent building by the river and unfortunately stepped on a nail one day. I highly recommend NOT doing that...

I'm so glad he's my Dad. He's goofy, he's funny, he loves games, he is a worthy priesthood holder, he works hard, he gives good advice, he is always willing to help others, and he loves me no matter what.
