2012 Freestyle International World Cup

This past weekend was the freestyle world cup at Deer Valley, so obviously we went! Josh and I have been to FOUR years of ski competitions in Park City/Deer Valley now and all of them have been awesome! The first one we went to was our first date :) and each year gets better and better! We try to invite as many people as we can to come see the awesomeness and this year we had a huge fun group of people!

These two cute cousins actually came on Thursday night and stayed at our house for the weekend. It was so fun playing games with them and catching up. We had so much fun Thursday night that when I got home Friday from school at 1:00 they were just getting out of bed and eating breakfast! But hey, thats what you do on vacation!

Friday night we also invited our best friends Jason and Cristine and our cousins Kristi and Aubrey as well as Bryce and Kevin to come to the Aerial Competition that night. Sadly not everyone could come, but there was still 8 of us that went to see the Aerials.  I also tried out a new recipe for dinner before the competition, Santa Fe Chicken, from pinterest for dinner. It was really delicious and easy peasy because it was in the crockpot!

After hiking up the slippery slope (I only slipped twice woohoo!) to get to the very large somewhat intoxicated crowd, we pushed through and got good spots to watch the competition.  It is hard to believe how high those skiers fly in the air and how fast they do their flips and twists. Then the landing! Man, I just can't believe how they do it!

The only semi-good pictures I have are of the girls. They went off smaller jumps and were much easier to take pictures of... the guys just flipped to dang fast!  Please see exhibit A & exhibit B...

Exhibit A: No skiers even in the picture...
Exhibit B:  Just a ball of red in the sky.
This is the number one ladies aerial jumper in the world( hence the yellow vest...) She was AMAZING! We were a little disappointed about the USA's showing in the aerial competition... there was only 1 girl and 2 boys in the finals, and the Chinese swept the women's competition. Those Chinese are just way too good!
HOWEVER, this guy made us all feel proud! He made it to the finals and his second to last run was amazing! When he landed he was dancing all over the place and was so happy. I'd be happy as well because that run put him in 1st place! Then the top 4 men did one more jump and right before his jump a man from China knocked him out of first. He nailed his last run, it was flawless, but his difficulty wasn't as good as the China man's so he got 2nd!

Of course I had to have some videos of the awesomeness as well... these videos are of the USA man who got 2nd and the number one ladies aerial master.

After the ski competition, we headed back to our house for some hot chocolate, hot cider, and gluten free muddy buddies which were quickly devoured! Then Aubrey and her friend came over and we all warmed up in the jacuzzi! When we got back and were changing, we had a little visit from the "power boxing" fairies.... aka Bryce & Mckenna. If you don't know what "power boxing" is (which Josh didn't, but now he knows first hand!) I guess I'll have to write another post dedicated to a near escape with juvenile detention and my best friends/cousin going to court!

We ended the night playing Nertz and laughing hysterically before having a CSO (cousin sleep over). The next morning Whitney, Colton, Kristi, Shaun, Josh and I being the only remaining partiers had a delicious breakfast of waffles, eggs, potatoes, and smoothies. We spent the remainder of the day dancing, frisbee golfing, bowling, and flying planes in the comfort of our living room and PJs.

Let me tell you, it was one wild weekend! Now the house is clean and quiet.... anyone wanna visit this weekend?
