Josh's sister Heather and her cute little family came to Midway for the last part of Christmas break, so we headed up there to spend time with them. On Wednesday, it snowed all day and there was so much snow! There was probably about 2 feet of fresh beautiful powder. It made everything look so magical outside.
Josh and I had a lot of fun playing with the kids outside in the snow. One night we went out after dinner and when we finally came in, realized it was 10:30pm! We were having so much fun out there with the kids that we didn't even realize we were outside for so long. I showed everyone how to make snow caves like the brothers and I used to do at home and they loved it. They named them the CCC's which stands for "cool cousin caves" which really doesn't make any sense because they aren't cousins, but oh well. haha The kids had everyone else come out and see them and they even drank hot chocolate inside the CCC's.
There's Lucy inside the cave we built. Josh, Lucy, and I all fit inside. It was pretty big and we were very proud of it. :)
Josh built a place to sled as well, and we had contests to see who could make it all the way across the lawn and to the road.
We also went sledding one day with everyone. We just drove up to a big hill and slid down on snow boogies, tubes, and an old snowboard. The kids showed no fear as they sped down the hill and plowed into the snow drifts. I showed my coordination and athletic skills by trying to get a jump start down the hill by jumping onto my snow boogie only to immediately fall off. I also sat on a tube and slid backwards into a tree instead of going down the hill. Everyone was laughing, but I know that secretly they all just wanted to be as cool as I am.
Josh & I after sledding. (Yes, I do realize I look a little bit like Willy Wonka from the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with that cheesy grin, but I wanted to show off my cute new hat.)
On New Year's Eve, we played Just Dance 2 and loved watching everyone dance the night away. The kids were all really good and Brendan had quite the booty shake. Halie and Lucy were really good at it and definitely showed me up. Then, when the clock struck 12 and the ball dropped in New York, we banged pots and pans and drank sparkling pear bubbly to welcome in 2011. Thanks Green's for making our last bit of vacation so fun!
